Awakening

Awakening

We are the children of the moon
who, by the stars, amid the night
We read the face of a painted rune
with magick words and faces bright

We are the children who do not tell
We live alone, we stick together
We cast an old and foreign spell
and promise that we'll live forever

We are the children who were misplaced
No longer bound inside that cage
Of living a life that's multi-faced
We are the dawn of the new age

-------------------------------------------

We are the young trying to be old
Not knowing the way but making one
Watching events in our lives unfold
Taking each day as they come

We are the young born to be free
Yet living as captives and slaves
Losing our lives for humanity
Digging our own shallow graves

We are the young forced to be wise
Seeing the difference between reason & rhyme
Knowing we live inside the disguise
We are the young of all time

--------------------------------------------

We are the brave facing our pain
Aware of the loss of our death
Living our lives again and again
Awakening with every breath

We are the brave taking our chances
Playing with earth, wind, and fire
Watching the world as she spins and she dances
Playing with will and desire

We are the brave, the children, the young
Our eyes are honest, our lips are true
We lift our chalice and drink in song
And hail to ye old and new!
